Description: Looking ahead to the key market stories this week.

1. Broadcom reports after the close on Wednesday. Wall Street expects about $29.3bn in Q3 revenue and adjusted EPS of roughly $3.22, against company revenue guidance of $29.4bn. Focus will be on AI semiconductor revenue, guided to $16bn, custom accelerators and networking. The key share-price catalyst is likely to be Q4 guidance, particularly the AI revenue outlook.

2. NIO reports before the open on Tuesday. Wall Street expects roughly $4.9bn in Q2 revenue and a loss of around $0.05-$0.07 per ADS. Focus will be on vehicle margins, profitability and Q3 guidance. After Q2 deliveries missed company guidance, stronger margins and an encouraging delivery and revenue outlook will be key share-price catalysts.

3. The August US jobs report is due on Friday. Wall Street currently expects payroll growth of around 55,000 after July’s 23,000 decline, with unemployment seen near 4.2%. Focus will be on payrolls, wages and revisions. Ahead of the September Fed meeting, a strong report could lift yields and the dollar, while further weakness would reinforce labour-market concerns.

4. Dell reports after the close on Tuesday. Wall Street expects about $44.9bn in Q2 revenue and adjusted EPS of roughly $4.90, versus company guidance of $44-45bn and $4.80 ± $0.10. Focus will be on AI-server revenue, guided to $15.5bn, orders and margins. Strong AI demand, resilient profitability and higher full-year guidance would be key share-price catalysts.

Description: Here's a recap from key market stories this week.

1. Nvidia shares jumped after breaking a four-quarter streak of post-earnings declines. Jensen Huang said sales could double without supply constraints, while Amazon will deploy two million more Nvidia processors. Risks include lower gross margins and customer financing, but demand remains strong. Nvidia is also reportedly buying AI platform Hugging Face for $12.9bn.

2. Meta shares rose after agreeing to pay up to $18bn to settle child-harm claims, sharply reducing potential financial exposure. The deal imposes age verification, daily limits and other teen protections but leaves thousands of other lawsuits unresolved. While financially manageable, the settlement could pressure engagement if rivals avoid similar restrictions, making it a qualified win for Meta.

3. The US has launched “Operation Economic Outcast,” expanding sanctions on Iran across digital assets, technology, gold, aviation and shipping while targeting more than 60 entities and vessels. Washington is also pressing trading partners to wind down Iran-related activity. China has opposed the measures, while Tehran remains defiant and has threatened retaliation against countries supporting the US crackdown.

4. Xpeng shares fell after Q3 delivery guidance of 115,000-121,000 vehicles missed expectations, partly due to MONA L03 supply constraints. Q2 revenue rose 8%, but losses widened. Separately, its robotics unit raised over $900m at a $6.3bn valuation, highlighting long-term AI and humanoid-robot potential despite near-term weakness in its EV business.
